UPF 50+ Sun Protection

Ōiwi Performance Apparel is constructed only from premium fabric that is rated UPF 50+ by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA).  

UPF 50+ is the highest sun protection rating for clothing.  It blocks 97.5% of the sun's UV rays.

UPF refers to the amount of UV rays blocked by apparel and fabrics. UPF is a transmission test: Our fabric is exposed to a UV source that simulates the sun's rays at noon. The amount of UV rays blocked by the fabric is measured by a device called a spectrophotometer. The UPF rating refers to how much UVR is blocked.  Read more about UPF factor testing
